Dates are calendar arithmetic done in your browser with today's date in your time zone. Contracts, courts and agencies can count deadlines differently, so check the rule that applies before you rely on a date.

Common days from today, and the same days ago

Each row gives the date a set number of days after today and the date the same number of days before it, with the weekday. Today counts as day 0, and the 6-month and 1-year rows keep today's day number.

What is 90 days from today?

Today is day 0 and tomorrow is day 1, so the answer is the 90th day after today: Saturday, January 23, 2027.

Today is October 25, which leaves 6 more days in October (31 − 25). November adds 30 days (36 so far) and December adds 31 (67 so far). The remaining 23 days run into January, so 90 days from today is Saturday, January 23, 2027.

90 days is 12 weeks and 6 days, so the result falls on the weekday just before today’s. It is close to 3 months, but 3 calendar months run 89 to 92 days, so the two dates often differ by a day or two. On the same count, 60 days from today is Thursday, December 24, 2026.

Counting days forward by hand

Use up the days left in the start month, take away whole months, and count the rest into the last month.

  1. Subtract the start day from the length of its month. From November 15, November has 30 − 15 = 15 days left.
  2. Take away each whole month that fits. 90 − 15 = 75, December leaves 75 − 31 = 44, and January leaves 44 − 31 = 13.
  3. Count what is left into the next month. 13 days into February gives February 13.
Count Steps Result
30 days from January 15 16 in January, then 14 February 14
45 days from March 20 11 in March, 30 in April, then 4 May 4
60 days from May 10 21 in May, 30 in June, then 9 July 9
90 days from November 15 15 in November, 31 in December, 31 in January, then 13 February 13
100 days from September 10 20 in September, 31 in October, 30 in November, then 19 December 19

None of these spans reaches February 29, so the results hold in every year. Counting back works in reverse: 30 days before August 10 is July 11. For the weekday, divide the count by 7 and move forward by the remainder. 45 days from today is 6 weeks and 3 days, so it lands three days later in the week than today, and 45 days after a Monday is a Thursday.

The day-counting guide covers the opposite problem, the number of days between two known dates. With today as one of them, use days until a date.

Calendar days vs business days

Business days are Monday to Friday, minus the 11 federal holidays on the days they are observed. The start day never counts, so 1 business day after a Friday is the next Monday. Choose Business days under Count to use them.

Business days From a Monday, lands on
3 Thursday, 3 calendar days later
5 Monday, 7 calendar days later
7 Wednesday, 9 calendar days later
10 Monday, 14 calendar days later
15 Monday, 21 calendar days later
20 Monday, 28 calendar days later

The table assumes no holiday falls in between. Each one that does pushes the date a business day later. For the coming Thanksgiving, 5 business days from Monday, November 23, 2026 is Tuesday, December 1, 2026, because Thanksgiving Day is skipped. Counted as a workday, the holiday would give Monday, November 30, 2026.

Over the winter holidays, 10 business days from Friday, December 18, 2026 is Tuesday, January 5, 2027. That count skips Christmas Day and New Year's Day. With Skip federal holidays in business days off, it ends on Friday, January 1, 2027. The holiday table on the days between dates calculator gives each holiday’s rule and this year’s observed date. For a resignation, 2 weeks’ notice is 14 calendar days, or 10 business days.

How months and years are added

Adding months keeps the start’s day number. When the result month is shorter, the date moves to that month’s last day, and a year is 12 months.

Start Add Result
March 31, 2026 1 month April 30, 2026
January 31, 2025 1 month February 28, 2025
January 31, 2024 1 month February 29, 2024
January 31, 2026 2 months March 31, 2026
August 31, 2025 6 months February 28, 2026
February 29, 2024 1 year February 28, 2025

The calculator adds all the months at once, so January 31 plus 2 months is March 31, not March 28. 2024 has a February 29 because of the Gregorian leap year rules.

Day counts and month counts drift apart. One month is 28 to 31 days, 4 months is 120 to 123 days and 6 months is 181 to 184 days. So 120 days from today lands up to 3 days before the date 4 months away, and 180 days from today lands 1 to 4 days before the date 6 months away. Weeks never drift: each is exactly 7 days, so 14 days from today, Sunday, November 8, 2026, falls on today’s weekday.

Frequently asked questions

Can this date calculator count back from today?

Yes. Choose Before (ago) to subtract days, weeks, months or years: 30 days before today was Friday, September 25, 2026. Business days skip weekends and federal holidays on the way back too.

What is 6 months from today?

6 months from today is Sunday, April 25, 2027. Months keep today's day number, so 6 months is 181 to 184 days rather than a fixed 180.

Can I add hours instead of days?

Yes, with the hours from now calculator. It gives the clock time and the date, and handles the daylight saving time changes in March and November.

How do I get the same date in Excel or Google Sheets?

Type =TODAY()+90 for the date 90 days from today. For business days, =WORKDAY(TODAY(),10) skips Saturdays and Sundays, and a third argument with a range of holiday dates skips those as well.

Federal holidays: 5 U.S.C. 6103, Holidays from the U.S. Government Publishing Office, and the OPM federal holidays page, which lists observed dates and the Saturday and Sunday rules. Spreadsheet functions: Microsoft Support pages for TODAY and WORKDAY. All checked October 22, 2026. Every date on this page comes from the same code that runs the calculator.
