Past dates and dates years away

A date that has already passed shows how many days ago it was, with a link that opens the same date in the days since calculator for a years, months and days breakdown. Any date through December 31, 9999 works. Past about a year, the calendar view switches from week columns to one row per year.

For a date that comes back every year, the birthday countdown rolls over to next year’s date on its own. The count drops by 1 each night at 12:00 AM local time, so a visitor in Chicago reaches a date an hour after one in New York.
